print this pageThe virtual exhibit Italy, war and food (1915-1918) is created in the framework of the ministry project ''Five Hundred Youngsters for Culture'. In such framework have the interns of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze carried out an articulated project of inventory, research and cataloguing of press material concerning World War One, subsequently culminating in the realization of a virtual exhibit. The project has led to the census, the cataloguing through SBN and to the subject heading of 340 leaflets belonging to the Library's minor publications' fund, as well as to the subject index of about 2000 books. The final phase was instead consecrated to the conception, the project and the realization of the virtual exhibition, which included the draft of texts, the digitalization of press material and the use of the MOVIO software to create the exhibit.

Short description
Virtual documentary exhibit dedicated to nutrition during World War One, considering and comparing the situation of both the civil population and the soldiers in the lines. Throughout the analyses of the eating habits during the Great War, we attempt to give an original point of view on the path followed in those years for the construction of the Italian collective identity.
